Hail To The Chief; Let’s Eat!

I just watched the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America and now I am hungry. Sadly my lunch will not be the stately affair President Obama is enjoying, but as I eat my humble sandwich I plan to live vicariously through by drooling over the recipes for today’s inaugural luncheon. Here is the link for you in case you wish to do the same: menu

Erin, you never know..perhaps next birthday…next December…the Obamas might drop around and have a feast of bacon with you…’n chat about grey hair and eyesight!

I love that the food was American…not having to be other…that American food is just fine and dandy for such a celebration…

‘n methinks there was no need to use the word champagne…what is, is…

I’m simply joyously drunk on the past few days..never have I in my 59 years felt such a connection to place other than Oz…oh maybe during the ’60s with The Beatles..drawn to things English :-)

the Thomas Hill painting of the Yosemite Valley…what a backdrop for the luncheon..a reminder of Lincoln’s setting aside of that wondrous place as a public reserve..’n also a reminder of dawn..of the beginning of a new presidency…may it be full to the brim with wisdom and love and strength…’n laughter!

love that the President commented on the snack machine in the bowels of where the press gather…he suggested that perhaps something a little more healthy was in order…Washington…such changes!

  • Hi Joan, too many people in this country are prejudiced against our own food and assume that we don’t have the ability to produce good food. Sadly, most of them consider themselves “foodies”. Times they are changing. I like to think about those people as I feast on Berkshire pork, Fiscallini cheddar and sip Clear Creek eau de vie.

I can just see it now, the White House Press Corps. chained to the vending machines protesting the removal. ;)

It is a beautiful painting. I love how it captures such a radiant light sort of signifying a new dawn. Lovely.
