The sad part of it all is that we gave away half of our posessions before we moved and still had too much. We have been giving away our things left and right this week trying to make 610sq. ft. work. It is working though and if the moving company would just come back to recycle the packing material we'd actually have quite a bit of space!

"I loved...waiting for our household goods..."
"I loved the empty..."

"As much as I wanted my things, I was sad to see my simple existence go."

Surely there's a compromise that can be reached! I just read the other day about a man who's trying to keep his possesions to 100.

I'm thinking I could even just halve what I have, still have too much.

Barbara,
I feel exactly the same way. As much as I wanted my things, I was sad to see my simple existence go. We have been working hard and our life will return to normal soon.

I loved the month we spent waiting for our household goods to arrive. I loved the empty apartment with just a fridge, a bed(which doubled as couch and bed) and the out door table (inside). I bought a cheap 4 piece dinner setting, cutlery set, 6 wine glasses, 1 frypan, 1 stove top casserole, 1 knife and a wooden spoon. All from Ikea. I think I could live a very simple life as long as I had a nice bathroom.
